Really fantastic package combining one of the greatest punk albums of all time (maybe even the all-time best) with a stack of rough mixes, demos and the two absolutely essential Peel sessions. This is what every 'deluxe' edition should be like - all premium quality and no filler. Alongside the Pop Group's Y album it was a master-stroke to get dub genius Dennis Bovell to produce the album. Nobody could have done it better.
What else can I say about this album? Well - all the songs are memorable, the playing is superb and, crucially, totally unique. No other band sound like The Slits. The guitar playing is out of this world - check out the 1978 Peel session version of So Tough - what incredible technique.
Many punk fans (especially male) may think the Pistols, the Clash, the Ramones... or any other of the testosterone-fuelled late '70s gang made the best punk album - but actually it was made by The Slits - 'Cut'.
