I am listening to this now as I type - what is so special? I have been partying and buying records since 1988 and there is nothing here of any interest - it gets 708 reviews and an average rating of 4.66% which is very impressive - I guess this is mainly from people who weren't there at the beginning because this is a boring track to me with nothing special - maybe like the proverbial rat following the pied piper you must agree with what was written previously - I could neither dance to this or listen to it - it's just annoying - but it goes to show how ignorant of the history of dance music most people are today - a sad reflection of not only our society but how easily people will "like" anything without any real understanding of the history of dance music - don't go against there grain someone might write something negative about you on Facebook - what a shambolic society we live in today - this is sooooo overrated - how the fuck an so many people describe this bas a perfect record - you are so easily pleased today and have no individuality

It's a great record! I never take it out of the DJ record bag. I originally had the thick 180 gm pressing, but after playing it 30 times I sold it & bought two recent re-presses from Juno(UK). The repress is 140 gm; I wish I kept my old one because I think it's better to travel with & more durable. The thin pressings warp easier.

I don't get this record (there's always one right?). I just can't connect up the dots between deep house and techno. It sounds like deep house at techno tempo but in a way that negates each genre. And there's the minimal angle too. It is very minimal, but for me good deep music has space not lack of sound elements. It sounds like bits are missing which , on another track, might give you space but I am just not feeling it.

This record is absolutely astonishing. Amazing that in 15 years of listening to electronic music I only discovered this for the first time a few weeks ago. Stunning, timeless music. Repress is of a very high quality, mine sounds perfect.

PROPER "deep"! everyone seems to love "Lady Science" (great track and i gotta say, w/o the 'tek mix' this record drops a few points), but personally "Overcome" makes it into many, many more sets of mine. Ford/Hutton/Melchoir was unstoppable in the late 90s/early 00s.
