After going back and listening to both the repress and the original 1996 pressing on a few systems, I've come to a conclusion. On lower to mid-range setups the album doesn't sound all that bad, maybe equivalent to listening to a 192kb/s MP3. It's only on higher end players that the record begins to sound a bit naff. So, if you're spinning the record on a Rega RP1 (even with the upgrade pack) for example, it's not too bad. If your system is too good it'll sound crap.

Not worth buying. It's clear from the first bass note in "Super Bon Bon" that this was never mastered for vinyl. They didn't even bother to retool the artwork for the vinyl release; they literally just took to the four-panel CD booklet and reproduced the images sequentially on the back of the sleeve. If you're a Soul Coughing completist then yeah, I guess you'll have to pick it up... but for your listening dollar, you're better off dropping $3 on a much better sounding CD.
