Swedish house collective Spånka NKPG release VOLUME 2, and the jazzy groove aren't far behind as "Star" gets going. "Eskapism" has a brightness that hints some tech-house leanings, but traditional house is by and large the order of the day. "Fight," for instance, is pretty straightforward in its groove, and the touches of electro on "Future" and "Falling" give them an additional perk. "So Fine" lives up to its name with a feel-good melody and a cracking rhythm (a mood that will reappear with "Luving"), and "Work" and "Better" deliver nice slices of funk. For a more instrumental tip, "Change" has some disco guitars, while "How Is Your Father" delivers some squat, ridiculous joy. But the gentle "Ribersborg" closes the album on a dreamier note without losing its sense of rhythm, a track that wouldn't have been out of place on Svek. Solid.
