Let me down gently ... Let me down gently ... embrace me ... hold me close ... I’m dreaming ... I’m floating ... I’m dreaming that I’m floating ... that’s the ticket, now I remember, I needed a pillow ...

Actually, I suppose this should be considered and adult hallucination of sorts [I am hallucinating, right?], as it involves a pillow. So, if you are a minor or are easily offended, please stop and step out of my hallucination, a little mind bend I’ll call, “The Damaged Pillow,” a true to life case.

I must say, I can not claim total credit for this hallucination, though I’ve considered it so very often, that I am claiming it as mine through artistic use.

I heard about this store, quite out of the way, and decided to go there one afternoon, as I was in need of a new pillow ... their selection, I was told was top shelf. After making my way to the counter, I asked the price in an attempt to pay for the pillow.

Looking at me as if I had just walked in off the street, which I had, the man behind the counter said, “Sorry, we only rent them.”

“Rent them...” said I, “who rents pillows?” “You use pillows, you borrow pillows, but nobody rents pillows.”

“Despite your doubts, we do, we always have, and will continue to,” he replied in a fluff and tuck voice.

“OK...,” I said, “but you won’t be happy with it when I bring it back.”

“In that case...” he said “you’ll have to pay for it.”

“That’s what I’m trying to do now,” said I.

“NOPE...” he said, “we only rent them.”

I’m going to turn this record over and see if the outcome of this hallucination changes at all …
