Thomas... at this point, i just need to thank you for you life´s work. you really increasing the quality of my life.

record: normaly i´m not a goose bump person, but after i hear tundra4 till the end i need 10-30 minutes to recover. my hole body is pent-up, my iris is widened and i have to sit down ..or run.. adrenaline
be careful with that intense composition [or mix it this tundra from f.m.weird things for a total mind implosion]
going to play it at a gig and see if im going to surive it
thank you :*

High point for me is Tundra 4. The long ambient break sets back in of Gothic cathedral proportions, a false sense of security is obtained and then the sound of an unexpected 'pop' (kind you get if a mono jack is pulled on a hot tube amp), what follows is squelching building mind-melding bliss. Hear it!

Still one of the best records I have heard.

The first time i heard the title track was when i saw him open his live set with it in los angeles, april 2004. My mind was already somewhere else, but this one pushed it much, much further than before. When i bought this twelve-inch, i played it for everybody i possibly could (and i'm no dj). It was a cultural event for me. Four years later i still think that tundra 4 has not been surpassed by anything else i have heard. Incredible.

My first review was about 10 years ago so i guess it makes sense i pick up the 12" 10 years later as i'm building my vinyl collection picking up all the old vinyl only exclusive stuff I missed out on.
This record is still incredible. I don't listen to IDM / Braindance genre as much as I used to. Truthfully It all sounds a bit dated to me when I try to listen to my old CDs. However, this EP does not. Tundra 4 is a masterpiece - it has everything. Incredible buildup - breakdown - and finale. Gothic ambient pads. ACID. Great breaks. 10 years later, I still have the same appreciation for this track. I would say what changed for me is that i grew a much larger appreciation for Venus no. 17 original and Acid mix. I've always loved the Acid mix but didn't really think much of the original. I guess I would say it's the mixing. For such a dirty sounding track, it's so crisp & clean. I would say it's even better mixed than Tundra 4 which has great dynamics. Anyways - this is worth a listen if you haven't heard it. It's the best thing he's ever done.

I have every release by this man, and after "Do You Know Squarepusher", I wasn't really that excited about this one; "Ultravisitor" could've been better (It was good, but it was no "Big Loada"). Then, I went to Warp's website, and clicked "audio" for this song.

This is truly Tom's best work to date. Filthy, breaky, techy, with acid (!). Absolutely the best drum'n'bass record I've heard in a long long time.

This is what the deebee community needs; more sick minds like this one! A true masterpiece if ever there was one.

Still his finest release, and one of the best records Warp has ever put out. Both Venus versions are special, but Tundra 4 is otherworldly. Truly the product of a very talented producer at the peak of his abilities.

The title track is good, Tundra 4 is brilliant but for me the highlight of this record is the Acid mix of Venus No.17! What a track! Awesome acid drenched jungle, a serious update to his Vic Acid era tracks but far more realised and tight. I find it hard to pass up playing this track out!

Dear Tom:
You've really surpassed yourself on this one. Tundra 4 reaches an icy summit that few in techno would even aspire to. The climb is much too technical, too difficult to be of interest. But you, on the other hand, only find rewards in these strangest of strange lands, reaching yet another mysterious pinnacle. The intricacies are distinctly Baroque, but this is symphonic techno forcing its epiphane upon us, that beauty and terror are one. May we all reap as much from your work as I have.

As a side note, in this world of endless revisions and remixes, the name here is at once familiar (harking back to Tundra on Feed Me Weird Things) and alienating because of its mechanical addition of the number 4. Just a reminder that 4 is the number of death in Eastern cultures and in Western Qwerty culture it is the symbol of the dollar sign. So is it version 4 or 4.0? Where have 2 and 3 gone? Is Tundra the same as version 1? Does the entire sequence represent something else entirely? The immediate linear nature of my logical thinking is revealed, and I can't help but think that once again, you have pointed directly to the mystery which we all pursue.

This 12" is Jungle surrounded and has Acid in it.
A look back from Squarepusher, after Ultravisitor.
Venus No. 17 is far away from Ultravisitor's heavy acoustic Jazz sound. The 12" is what many people asked for after the last LP and now they get much more. Even a new track named Tundra 4.
