First heard this on John Peel's show. The 7" version is much more powerful than the CD (Narcotic) version. There is something that just hooks into my brain with this one. Although much used Sherwood samples abound, the plaintive vocals work for me, if not for other reviewers. I'd love to hear it reworked by Trent/NIN.

The Exquisite Act (The Wood of Worlds) is pure perfection. I cannot understand why it isn't better known. To say Sian Phillips has a nice voice is like saying Srinivasan Ramanujan was good at sums. I was transported to another world by this sensual soundscape, and I never quite returned...
