I bought this album when it came out in 1972. It is still the most exciting jazz album I have ever heard.

Unlike many live albums, "Live in London" captures the true experience of being guided by the orchestra to a higher level of excitement by each succeeding piece. Also, while the concert contains many old Kenton standards, each has a fresh modern and intricate approach that reveals new ideas. The newer pieces demonstrate clearly that Kenton developed musical innovation continually throughout his career. Like many "London" recording the sound quality is excellent.

Quin Davis: whata sound; Ramon Lopez; what drive!

I recommend playing this album with the lights out, from beginning to end, and LOUD.
