Why every Phish fan should own this 45:
I remember reading in a Phish "Shvice" (aka the Phish Newsletter) back when it was sent to you in the mail Trey saying that "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" was one of his favorites. However subtle it may be the two bands have been playing off each other over the years. With the line from Pavement "...I can't enjoy myself, you can't enjoy yourself..." out cry Phish: "YEM!". So, I believe this to be just another nod to Trey and the like from Malky. With the line "...they have a dog they named Trey..." It is no secret that S.M. is a fan of progressive rock guitar jamming. Malkmus has testified his love of psychedelic rock and his own progression as a guitarist with the already classic "Real Emotional Trash".
So Phish fans open your hearts to this hippy anthem, but brace yourselves for the cover on the flip side.
