This album was recorded as a birthday present for my friend Andrew Belcher, and he has the only copy. It contains a very eclectic mix of music, from melodic electro/techno (Omni-Present Sky, Irrepressible Beauty of Nature) to experimental soundscapes (Fender Bender,Tranquility Base) and quite a bit in between. All tracks recorded between Sept. 1997 and March 1998. I decided to make this the debut release on Solitary (thus the title), even though it is not for sale. I do like the idea of one-off releases for special purposes, and plan to have a series of such releases on Solitary. I'm also interested in doing one-off releases with more elaborate packaging (even to the point of having a portable CD player containing the CD permanently encased within the packaging) which could stand up as a piece of art in their own right and perhaps be used in an installation space, or even as a sculpture in a museum space. I've had this idea for a few years now, but it will probably be a while before any of these works materialise.
