A very odd pressing. Does it sound great? No. Does it sound horrible? Also no. It’s just kind of an odd mix that doesn’t translate immediately well onto vinyl. The low end is deep and powerful and really drives the bulk of the recording. As are the drums which are big and heavy. Parts of this record sound excellent but there is what sounds like compression but I think it’s just an odd balance to the mix, especially the vocals which do sound compressed at times and just make the recording sound odd in places. I have to really turn this record up for it to have the desired impact in the speakers. The good news is you can really crank this without affecting the audio quality. It’s really not bad sounding, it just lacks in certain areas but performs very well in others. It’s just when the music gets busy on some tracks that the mastering falls short. Like at the end of Meat Plow. What’s interesting though is that the busy hard rock ending of Silvergun Superman sounds ace. Interstate Love Song sounds amazing with deep, well defined bass and realistic percussion really driving the rhythm. Pretty Penny also sounds wonderfully spacious and dynamic. As does Big Empty which also sounds excellent. Only some tracks have limitations. Would have been nice to hear a little more detail in the guitar though on some of the harder rock tracks. It’s a mixed bag and your left feeling that the mix and mastering could have been better. In the end, this is moreso an edition for collectors, being a limited edition first press. Not your go to choice when you want to listen to this album, imo but still nice to have.

Buying this "purple" Purple vinyl cost me a pretty penny, but what I received in the mail almost made me come unglued. I opened the package and put the record on the turntable. At this point I'm breaking out the vasoline and doing my ritualistic meat plowing while fantasizing showing off this record to my lounge flies next time they're over. It was on the seventh track when I encountered a loop that left a big empty feeling in my heart. But after replaying the track again, the loop had vanished. I was so happy, I celebrated with some kitchenware and candybars. But that frightful moment still remains in my deepest thoughts... Alright, I'm out of puns. It's a good record though, worth the buy.

Is there a way to discern if a sealed original pressing is on purple vinyl or black - i.e. did the purple vinyl press contain a hype sticker specifying the edition? It appears both versions have the same barcode and catalog numbers.

Not the best pressing. Sounds murky and could've been cut for vinyl better. But the purple color is cool so there's that...

The barcode on my copy has white background... Is the picture used here from another pressing..?

What is the value of the black vinyl vs the purple vinyl? Also which pressing is more rare then the other?
