This album is completely fantastic. Dense, rain-soaked tape drones and chords wash over minimal throbbing rhythms. Although it is a pretty unique listen, if I were forced to compare this to anything, I would point to Wolfgang Voigt's GAS project. Despite the immediate want for this album to be longer, for my taste, I think the LP-length runtime works well considering how many times I repeatedly listened to this upon discovering it. Perfect womblike music for late nights indoors with a soft pillow and a warm paperback. Highly recommended, and it would be stellar to see this material issued on vinyl someday.

I found this interesting as a natural progression from 1980's music concrete into the post BC sound of the latest decade. However, it tires easily, and would have benefited with a little less drone and more complex layering of DT. Back in 1989 I had a copy of Werkbund's Skagerrak which I used to listen too when enclosed in one of those float tanks that were all the rage in London at the time. It was brilliant, under water water music.... I think this Submersion would work in the same environment; whether it would give me such fond memories 20 years time is doubtful. Still, it's worth having around.
