The first new LP by Sugar Plant in 18 years. The previous LP "Dry Fruit" has never been out of listening rotation for me since its release. Thus, I have been hoping for new music by this dreamy and lovely band with some hopeful expectations.

My impression of this album is that it holds two sounds. The songs sound familiar to their older material, while also touching new ground. Simple in their execution, and mellow in the overall bpm.

Once the the 1st track plays, the album begins a lovely sound. It has both groove and beauty all layered into a very relaxed and heart opening way.
"Dragon" continues this dreamy journey, with nice energy and a fun, but brief theremin solo.
"I Can't Live Alone" finds the band stretching themselves with more energy, touching some 1970's sunshine vibes.
"Sea We Swim" is a "older" song, that fans have heard live. It is a great song with super fun energy, nice instrumentation and arrangements. In some ways, it feels like one of the most developed songs on the lp. Shinichi Ogawa's lead guitar really sparkles and the bass lines by Chinatsu Shoyama are both funky and mellow. One of my fave songs on this new album for sure.

Overall it is a nice return for fans of the band. It is great to hear these friends recording music together again. I hope this is just the start to more new music by one of my favorite bands.
