Sunn O))) ‎– Kannon

Comparing between the regular black version and this one, there's definitely more surface noise but it's really not that noticeable because of the nature of the music.

Same to say as about the Japanese 2CD edition: If you already own several Sunn o))) albums, you will find nothing really new at first on Kannon. Attila Csihar contributing his well-known moaning voice to Sunn o)))'s well-known moaning riffs in the well-known moaning manner. Best thing to tell about this album for a start seems to be the bonus flexi- disc, as there's much more variety both in Csihar's vocalizing and Sunn o)))'s A-dropping walls of doom. As well there are several field recordings used for the background of Aokigahara // Jukai.
However, when you make the next step reading the textes about Kannon and listen to the whole album again, you will discover more beyond its well-known surface. Find out yourself whether it is worth it ... ;0)!

Superb sound, much better than on previous albums in my opinion. K1 and K3 are five-star pieces.

Any comments on the sound quality of the clear vinyl?

I bought this version by accident while trying to buy the white colored pressing on Black Friday. I ain't even mad tho because it's such a good album - a nearly entirely instrumental piece that straddles the border between ambient and metal, and in a style of metal that has aspirations towards classical music. It's similar in a lot of ways to Sleep's Dopesmoker or the proto-metal/proto-noise/proto-everything grind and rage of The Velvet Underground's "Sister Ray". Now I need to listen to Soused and OO Void.

Yeah, I'm digging the record as a whole too. I really like the packaging.
