At the time of their debut A PRESENT FROM NANCY, Supersister were a very young looking but highly experienced quartet of Ron van Eck (basses), Sacha van Geest (flutes, vocals), Robert Jan Stips (keyboards, lead vocals) and Marco Vrolijk (drums, vocals). I suppose, because of the very fertile progressive scene in Holland at that time, Supersister were given very much a free hand in what they wanted to do, and the resulting album was quite remarkable. Supersister's style involved a very multifaceted, complex concoction of rock, beat, psychedelia and jazz fusion, extensively featuring keyboards, flutes, a lively song style and many surprises. In common with many Canterbury bands, Supersister had no guitarist (a guest guitarist, one Gerhard Schmid, is featured on one track), in their music processed keyboards and bass guitar being given more freedom as solo instruments. Another aspect of the Supersister sound that was yet to reveal itself, is the curious dedication to The Mothers Of Invention that opens the second side of the album - a taster of things to come!
