Im.not familiar with this genre of music but I like it. There is quite a bit of funk in this work, also the guitar work is impressive. It feels a a little like outsider music. This is just my first listen, I'll want to hear it again and again.

From her 1956 recording, "Love is Strange" (Mickey and Sylvia), to 1980's "Rapper's Delight" (Label owner/Producer), Sylvia's discography is diverse, fresh, and still relevant. "Pillow Talk", performed by her at least twice on Soul Train, and brought to everyone's attention in HBO's Vinyl series, has to be her most intoxicating work. The song alone is worth the purchase of this album. Its vocal is quite seductive with very forward lyrics that still create a steamy atmosphere today, along with an entrancing, soulful, disco, soft club rhythm. A really fine groove. The term modal comes to mind. A cover of "Pillow Talk" was Vaporized by Saint Pepsi in more recent years. I decree 5/5 for Miss Robinson's "Pillow Talk" track alone. There are more than a couple enjoyable cuts on the LP, such as the laid-back, funky "Didn't I", not to be confused with the Delfonics song.

Decent album overall...not great IMO. Sylvia was a better producer than vocalist. And she hit her high points when she founded SUGAR HILL RECORDS in 1979. She is a legend.

Absolutely love this album. Sylvia has such an amazing voice set off by an incredible rhythm section. No surprise she would later be a creator of one of the most memorable and valued hip/hop labels of all time. Thank you Sylvia Robinson for Sugar Hill Records. Any hip/hop, disco, soul fan should have this in there collection. 5/5

Sylvia's in very sexy form on this album. Check out those cover pics and you'll get some idea of the content. Breathy vocals and playful lyrics are the order of the day on this. I don't think there's another Sylvia album like it!
