Taragana Pyjarama's debut, TIPPED BOWLS, starts with the soothing ambient layers of "Four Legged" and continues into the swirling "Growing Forehead" with its almost mantra-like vocals. But "Lo Ng" brings in the percussion, a steady beat beneath the xylophone tones, while "All Those Weird Things" spins around like trance music stripped down to its purest form. "Just Remember This" has a vocal sample that's been processed almost to the point of incomprehensibility, but it leads into "Pinned (Part 1)" which shakes up the percussion with some syncopation, and that rhythmic complexity extends into the title track, with its metallic tones. "Ballibat" has a lovely drift to it, echoing video game noises and all. "Pinned (Part 2)" has a more lo-fi quality to it, but it doesn't engage the higher tones as much as the other tracks. An interesting album for sure, even though it doesn't have any moments that make you stand up and pay full attention.
