Tears For Fears – Pale Shelter (You Don't Give Me Love)
Genre:
Style:
Year:
Notes:
Their 2nd single, released 29 March 1982.
Both tracks later re-recorded for "The Hurting" LP.
This is the original version, produced by Mike Howlett, and comes in a light green picture sleeve.
The re-recorded '83 version (also found on the LP "The Hurting") was released as their 5th single and was a Top 10 hit.
In 1985, following up on the massive success of the band's second LP "Songs From The Big Chair", Mercury reissued the original mix as a single, complete with a new cream colour picture sleeve.
One of Tears for Fears' oldest songs, "Pale Shelter" (along with "Suffer The Children") was originally recorded for the duo's first demo tape in 1981. The title of the song is a reference to "Pale Shelter Scene", a 1941 drawing by British sculptor Henry Moore.
NOTE: This Master Release contains releases with the Howlett produced version of Pale Shelter, regardless of the artwork or year

'We Are Broken' contains melodies and lyrics for Head Over Heels, which wouldn't be released until two years later.

The beige sleeve misses out the 1st (extended) track in the track listing on the back

I have a very similar 12" single which uses the lyric "Cold" Shelter and not Pale Shelter. The lead out is etched with "Bilbo. Tape One" and Stamped "IDEA 212 A// 2 (here is stamped a Delta figure = like an upside down triangle) 4 2 0 T " on both sides lead out

I bought this single and paid a good price for shipping but it was not the record I intended, I know it stated no record 2 just A and B in Good condition but it was just a ex jukebox single in a plain sleeve, yet it was advertised under the Canadian rare double pack, very disappointed, so now I'm looking for the DOUBLE PACK CANADIAN RELEASE. The record it self is in mint condition though, and arrived in good time, must learn to read the advert more as it does state "record may vary from the item shown, well this one certainly did!
