Mindblowing LP from one of Techno's all-time greats. Terrence's Techno isn't anybody else's Techno, but be assured; THIS IS TECHNO! The man has a Jazz soul.

So glad to finally have a copy of this. By the way, I don't see it mentioned anywhere, but the 2xLP is heavyweight vinyl

One of the best examples of Detroit techno available. Many of the tracks are variations on a theme, but amongst them are found the full range of serenity, toughness, funk, machine and soul that make up the idiosyncratic sound of true techno.

This is not one of those albums that screams "Detroit!" while presenting you all the usual sonic suspects on a silver plate. But this is indeed Detroit Techno in the finest sense of the term. The title really says it all - those tracks are from the far future, and without a doubt, they will sound unusual to your ears at first. I can't really describe why this is - it's just a different take on Techno. Listen to it for yourself.

Terrence Dixon develops an incredibly detailed and precise map of his musical vision, and he is consequent and confident enough to keep focused on what's new about his music.

Much of today's Techno keeps on repeating the same old story of where it came from. Terrence Dixon is one of the few who apparently choose to remain curious about where it may head someday. And that's what Techno music was about instantly, wasn't it?

What are you saying? Techno is dead?

Eat this!

I'd suggest that this does exactly 'what it says on the tin' and is very 'futuristic' both in a stylistic sense and in actuality as I've heard few things like it. There is a similarity between maybe a third of the tracks - I don't find this to be a problem: I find there's enough variation to keep things interesting, and yet the similarities mean that as a dj, one doesn't have to learn every single one of the tracks individually - there is a common theme.
There are also some spellbinding standouts - 'Reasons' is a very unique moment to my ears and I've heard a lot of techno. 'Detroit Express' is a deep, sonorous, breakbeat-driven ode to that melancholy city. All in all, I rate th LP very highly. I would advise buying it as it seems like one of those records which one always likes a lot more if heard maybe even several years *after* it came out. By that time, it will be hard to find, rare and expensive.

To me this is a real interesting record , which covers new ground .Though nothing to play out 2 a crowd or listening for relaxation , it never fails to produce a vivid imagination when listening to it . Future Sounds this is indeed . Maybe too far a future for many.(It's among the label maker's favourites) . This and Neil Landstrumm's album (106) are probably the most adventurous and least accessible LP's Tresor ever released .Terrence's record still got a distinctive detroit feel, which i like.

This is perhaps the worst record I own; there is little more than a shrill repetition of high-hats and uninspiring quirky basslines. There is little difference between all of the tracks.
