I have the original promo and original US pressing plus 1993 UK pressing. Considering buying this reissue to add to the collection. Any thoughts on quality?

I had three to choose from, this Memphis pressing (Stax), Three Men w. Beards, Ace Records...

I chose the Memphis (most expensive)...the music is so amazing, so I thought worth it. The INTRO sounds horrible...sound wise. The rest is good, not great, as thought. I would love to compare them all. Should have maybe gone with the middle (Beards) for a little less coin... The music is phenomenal though.

The cover is also not great, scratches and the picture hardly recognizable... That sticker on the shrink wrap made this pressing sound like something special, great even. The inner sleeve is simply paper with info, not a good inner sleeve at all! Not impressed, especially not fpr the price of 29€. Should have tried the other version for 10€...

Maybe I need to wash it first, lots of paper debri on the record, now on my needle. One can almost not buy any new records these days...quality tends to be mediocre... I blame hipsters and their Croslees...

The pressing is not bad, but it does sound quiet. Anyway, this is a gem worth owning.

I have seen a few copy's of the original and have two myself and the cover cardboard is quite soft like paper mache so the picture is easily damaged.
I would not be surprised if the cover was not made out of recycled paper, the card lacks the consistency of most album covers, Often when seeing the cover it is hard to make sense of the picture on the front.
The picture is actually quite dark, Any rubbing or ring wear ruins the visual statement the cover is trying to convey.
Even though the cover is a very important aspect of this album, the music is even more important, The amount of samples rappers have used from this one album should set alarm bells ringing.
It seems to be a hidden secret that rappers get a lot of inspiration from the musical direction and the subject matter this album has taken.
When i have a bad day i put this album on, some Curtis Mayfield, Gil scott Heron, Last poets, The watts Prophets, Issac Hayes, some Blaxploitation sound tracks and realise music like this may never come around again.
In my honest opinion this is a truly GREAT album that gets better with each play and listen that is why it is so highly sort after, The cost of ownership has ballooned over the years.
It is on so many peoples wants list, music of this caliber gets better over time So don,t sleep.

This album is excellent, unfortunately this pressing sounds quiet compared to any other album I have. I'm not sure if this is true of other pressings of this record, but mine is lightly played and just sounds very low volume.

Iit's funny how sellers try to hype their copies with worn covers and ring wear with terms like "heavy cover wear as is common on this release". Guess what? If the cover of your copy is busted....it's busted! There's nothing common about a worn cover...
