I have seen a few copy's of the original and have two myself and the cover cardboard is quite soft like paper mache so the picture is easily damaged.
I would not be surprised if the cover was not made out of recycled paper, the card lacks the consistency of most album covers, Often when seeing the cover it is hard to make sense of the picture on the front.
The picture is actually quite dark, Any rubbing or ring wear ruins the visual statement the cover is trying to convey.
Even though the cover is a very important aspect of this album, the music is even more important, The amount of samples rappers have used from this one album should set alarm bells ringing.
It seems to be a hidden secret that rappers get a lot of inspiration from the musical direction and the subject matter this album has taken.
When i have a bad day i put this album on, some Curtis Mayfield, Gil scott Heron, Last poets, The watts Prophets, Issac Hayes, some Blaxploitation sound tracks and realise music like this may never come around again.
In my honest opinion this is a truly GREAT album that gets better with each play and listen that is why it is so highly sort after, The cost of ownership has ballooned over the years.
It is on so many peoples wants list, music of this caliber gets better over time So don,t sleep.

Iit's funny how sellers try to hype their copies with worn covers and ring wear with terms like "heavy cover wear as is common on this release". Guess what? If the cover of your copy is busted....it's busted! There's nothing common about a worn cover...

A true Masterpiece composed by Dale Warren, a classically trained arranger and conductor from Detroit. Soulful grooves effortlessy blending with funky jams, gospel, spoken word and piano solo's. With these flawless arrangements its no wonder this lp has become of the most sampled albums of all time, to name just a few: Naughty by Nature, Jay-Z, Nas, Eric B and Rakim, Jill Scott, Keith Murray, Digable Planets, Leaders of the New School, The RZA, the list goes on and on.

The Sufferings of The Innercity put to wax. Listen and Feel the Pain. This is Poverty's Paradise.
