This is a great sounding remix and pressing of this classic album. The sound quality is clear and crisp with a nice bit of warmth, though the bass does sound a tad thin. The remix doesn't dramatically depart from the original mix in any way, rather it makes the record sound more full and open. Pressing quality and mastering is top notch.

I just cannot find a decent pressing of this album! I think I've tried 3 now from Amazon. The most recent one is close, but there is a whooshing in the left channel about once a second that is really distracting in quieter parts and between songs. Frustrating, as I like the new mix...

I'm sure the people who are saying this is a great pressing with no defects, must work at Quality Record Pressings, Sure the remix is nice but the quality of the pressing SUCKS. I've gone through four returns trying to fine a nice one without all the surface noise, pops and clicks and mind you this is after a ultra-sonic cleaning. If you take the time to read this review....do yourself a favor and seek out the EU pressing by Optimal. It's flawless.

This remix is amazing! It fixed the problem previous remasters had, which was that the 1960s odd stereo separation was very noticeable. But this version finally got rid of it, and I gotta say I really enjoyed this mix. It's better than the other mixes, I've heard.

While I still prefer the original mix, this isn't bad. I really liked the separation of the guitars during CARRY THAT WEIGHT/THE END on this version. This is a very good pressing of the LP; It's worth having in your collection. I think SGT. PEPPERS fared the best with the Giles Martin remixes, but it is always interesting to hear his treatments to classic material.

Does this mean that I can finally ditch my "myeh"-at-best Rainbo pressing.

Listen to side 2 of the single LP done at QRP on a decent rig. There is a distinct and distracting “sshsssssk” noise throughout side 2. That sound is not to be heard on the Optimal pressing. Friend of mine bought several copies and has verified the flaw is on all of his copies. I hate to fork over nearly three times the price for an Optimal pressing, but I won’t pay list price for a pressing this noisy. I would encourage anyone who hears the side 2 flaw to return their copies. Maybe they’ll own up to the problem which can also be heard on several other recent pressings of note. QRP’s brag stickers promise “unmatched quality control” and claim to be “the world’s best pressing plant.” Not on this release.

Mine was horrible in all regards as well (I like the mix, though). Took it back and bought the deluxe from Optimal. Yes it’s triple the cost but worth it as the bonus content is actually great and the quality is on the other end of the spectrum, up there with the best I’ve encountered.
