Lazarus Is Not Dead
"I must be losing my mind I keep on trying to find a way out but it’s ok you don’t lock the door anymore." There are such rare albums that despite how much we commend them they remain above any lauds. And Giant Steps is one of such rarities. "Finally broke the rule! Butterfly, you made me say I’d never leave but I can’t stay, I’d never hurt you willingly but it’s time this bird must fly away. Bird must fly today, Butterfly, away". The Boo Radleys managed to beget an opus where everything is in the ideal concordance so Giant Steps is a pure psychedelic delight even more delicious than Turkish delight, that's it.

New vinyl edition of 'Giant Steps' on Diverse, if anyone's interested. Don't fancy forking out twenty quid for it myself, but I'm surprised no one's noticed it.

First of all, the Boo Radleys varied Indie-Rock songs playing in rock / folk style that rely mostly on Beatles and Sixties psychedelia etc, a little humorous like 10cc, there is also a light tendency to bombastic arrangements. What are they doing in these songs? They end up in apocalyptic sound walls, cacophonies, pointless gadgets effect orgies or ambient parts, which give way to the next song (where sometimes the original theme is maintained in the background yet). They don't make a comfortable sound bed for the listener in the first place. Not bad. On the other hand I can't really relate to this kind of elaborated, intelligent music because... I think it's too made up sound.

Cherry Red continue midprice ranged reissues this time with The Boo Radleys's "Giant Steps".
Boos fan won't find anything extraordinary here - just old album and a lot b-sides from CD singles.
Whatever, how come that "Everything's Alright Forever" album was ignored is above understanting - instead 2CD "Everything's Alright Forever" reissue we got 3CD "Giant Steps" reissue. Giant, indeed.
