This is phenomenal as far as I'm concerned - completely uncanny in that it was this far ahead of its time - this is up there with Imagination's 'Changes' from Nightdubbing in 1982 (could have been a cutting edge tune from 1988-90), that United States Of America's tune from 1968 (which is literally a triphop tune from the mid 90s) and Pink Floyd's 'Echoes' from 1970 as far as uncanny time-warp years ahead of its time tackle goes.

Sorry avvy & contributors- the above image used for this release is of a bootleg copy. I remember this exact version coming out, around 2005 ish. The label image is a digital scan, reworked and impossible to have been created in 1977, and completely inconsistent with other Ice record labels of the era. This should be listed as unofficial/year unknown. I am sure it was early 2000's, but 100% sure this is a bootleg. Stick with the proven originals.

Worth pointing out: There are more than one bootleg 12"s of this release from different times. Check your etchings very carefully... You can tell year 2000+ unofficial pressings by- well- it just doesn't look or feel like a record pressed in '77. Often there is an unusually small, or large, run out area where the record has not been purpose cut to use a sensible % of the playing surface area. The labels look either photocopied or badly re made, and squeaky clean/digital. The run out etchings may not match, or match a release with a different label- this can mean the bootleg has used bits of information from different releases. If in doubt, check carefully against the images & details of the exact release you are buying.

Eddie moves into the new studio... Makes himself a cuppa, cracks out his sensi and the instruction books... Then decides to whack out this electronic version of his old Torpedo hit 'Nobody's Got Time'. The harsh backing vox are crying out for some indulgence in the filter dept. I'm half-sure it's a loop as they sound remarkably similar each time.

Still hard to believe this was made in 1977. By the guy who did Electric Avenue (OK, and Walking on Sunshine)! The first minimal house track, a good 5 years ahead of its time in an age of extremely rapid musical change where you can sound-date tracks by the time of year when they were made. Hypnotic and timeless, and any DJ worth their salt needs two copies (the Portrait pressings are cheap), because as you will find, this can hold a dance floor for a good 10 minutes.

What a great record, especially Time Warp. I can't believe nobody has bothered writing a review of this masterpiece yet. This record is timeless. If it was played in a club nowadays it wouldn't sound out of place at all. Pure groove and beat. A classic tune, produced by Eddy Grant. Something to be truly proud of. I'd love to hear Eddy make some more tunes like this.
