Arguably the first 'dance' band to do ambienthousedrumnbassfunk live (or at least do it well), what makes the Egg outstanding is the deep emotional spirit of their work. 'Albumen' remains an infectious listen 20 years later. Blink-and-you'll-miss-them harmonies and string parts come in and out. Most tracks are accompanied by joyous piano riffs like 'get some money together' and 'roche (don't you ever stop?)' or wahwah guitar like 'big duck' giving the album a spontaneous feel. Makes you want to see them live, very preferably at an outdoors festival in the sun with beer flowing steadily alongside like-minded people.
