One of my favourite acid house tracks ever! Hypnotic, brilliant acid line, just makes you wish it was 1988 all over again!

Ps, all these mixes are the original stand alone versions. The original has a hump in it if I can remember. Put a coin on your tonearm head. I forgot how good that acid mix is. Mental.

The one with the yellow smiley is the original I think, I bought it in 1990 after a record shop owner reserved it for me and saved it for 2 years until I returned. It is the best version. The acid mix was the second biggest acid track of the 87-89 acid era. The first biggest acid track and the longest was the 2 x 12 inch white label acid thunder by fast eddie. You had to mix both 12's back to back, It goes on for 30 minutes and I heard there was only 5 sets sold to dj's. So sad. After you heard that acid mix you knew the acid mixes. For me the Serpent version of the garden of eden is the best acid track of all time. It encapsulates the true element of acid house and only the white label acid thunder comes close. I only heard the acid thunder 30 m mix once on radio or in a club. I think the info is accurate. AWESOME acid tracks. Been into acid music since it was born in 1966 and I was born 1968. Love it.

Is there any version of this release preferable to the others in terms of pressing quality etc? I want one with the original tracks (esp Serpent in the Garden mix).

There are quite a plethora of this GOE release, however I entered my particular release as it differs slightly in the Catalog Number. On the runout of this release it clearly states PEPV 2A.

Sick track. With the "We don't need no, need no E, ecstasy is you and me!", this track was one of my favorites when I first got into oldschool acid house about 13 years ago as a teenager. I had this song on the Turkish "Acid House Party" cassette comp. and wore out and snapped the tape from repeatedly rewinding it to hear this song over and over again. The acid bassline is this lazy, hazy, narcosis-inducing thing that really does negate the need for drugs while listening to it. I don't understand why some tracks, like this track, weren't on more compilations and aren't more well known. The "Serpent In The Garden" mix, although not as harsh as Phuture's "Acid Trax" rivals it in it's length, trippiness and essentialness, with a couple minutes of pure, acid jamming at the end followed by samples of kids laughing and playing. A very positive uplifting acid monster that'll leave a smile on your face. Best yet, you can pick it up for pretty cheap.

One of the true classic acid tracks from back in the day "Serpent In The garden" being the monster 11 min long mix of it with its haunting choir vocals starting the track before the acid kicks in & takes you on your journey they don`t make them like this anymore.

This is an excellent but still obscure acidhouse record. It has a rolling, lazy, stoned quality to it which i like. Had it on a mixtape for years not knowing who it was by only for a very helpful record shop bloke called jim to ID it last year. Now have it on 12" and it's probably (in my humble opinion) the greatest acid track of all time. Any record that begins with chanting monks, breaks with a hiphop sample and ends with the sound of a playground (listen to the serpent mix to see what i mean) has got to be good.
