That alleged (US) Release date "July 26th 1993" is a shiny example how a mistake become truth... a.k.a. how something becomes #fakenews
It's a unlucky and endless string of unchecked copy/paste errors spread all over the internet!

The incorrect date is sourced from the forum "prince org": the member who posted 7/26, confirmed later he made a educate guess based on the European tour kick off date - Indeed the first issued edition is Gold Nigga ["Made in Canada" / matrix: DISQUE AMERIC] it was first sold in Paris on 31 Aug 1993.

8/31 is the earliest date; this is confirmed by countless fans and collectors - nobody else have/can provide a reliable reference for a earlier date!

The 21 track pirate /bootleg version with the extra tracks from the '2gether' maxi-single, contrary to popular belief was NEVER sold at the NPG store in London. Sellers of that bootleg often claim this to legitimise the transaction. The bio should be amended to reflect this. I bet if the NPG store was based in France, this information in the bio would not have been written in such an defamatory way.

The bio regarding the order of compact disc pressings is incorrect. I need to put the record straight...... The US compact disc pressed /manufactured by CINRAM was the original US release of the 'NPG - Gold Nigga' debut album on 26th July 1993 and only available from NPG outlets. The DISQUE-AMERIC Canada press was not available until a month later during the ACT II European tour (at the time in France) on the, 31st August 1993. I know i'm correct because the first and only single '2gether' was released from the album on the same date. That's why many purchased the album and the single at the same time at the concerts and where ever else it was available throughout the rest of the live dates..........

This may not mean like much too many, but for collectors and fans alike, this kind of info is essential.

Whoever has the USA pressing truly has the FIRST pressing of this rare album. I know this will upset many who thought the disc manufactured by DISQUE AMERIC in Canada was the first pressing. Unfortunately this is incorrect. This original US disc manufactured by CINRAM is far more obscure than the later more common DISQUE AMERIC pressing. The third (15 track) pressing was by Minneapolis based company ZOMAX OPTICAL who manufactured the reissue of the album, available in 2001 through mail order, NPG stores and Paisley Park celebrations.

All other pressings are bootlegs.

ALL INFO ABOUT WHICH PRESSING YOU HAVE IS ON THE INNER RING OF YOUR COMPACT DISC. I HOPE THIS CLARIFIES WHAT HAS BEEN YEARS OF CONFUSION SURROUNDING THE DIFFERENT PRESSINGS OF THIS RELEASE.
