I remember getting this when it came out. There was a bit of a buzz about it in the record store as people were debating whether it was actually a Drexciya record or not, most people seemed unconvinced as it wasn't really like what they'd put out before. Back then it was all still a mystery, just rumours, though store owner said it was hinted at by Warp. Remember there was no discogs (or it was just starting and pretty basic), no Drexiciya Research blog, very little information at all on the internet. I have to admit I wasn't sure myself, as I'd recently bought Harnessed The Storm which is a much harsher darker album. But I thought it sounded really good so I bought it regardless. After a few listens I was convinced it really was Drexciya, even if it was very different to their other records, much more mellow and groovy, lush and melodic. Yet, it seemed to me like only Drexciya could make something like this, it still had that live organic feel to it, though the aesthetic was quite different the way it was all put together seemed to me pure Drexciya. Over the next year or two, more albums by Shifted Phases, Transllusion, Abstract Thought and finally Lab Rat XL would drop, all with little fanfare, all exploring different moods and themes. It had become clear that there had been a "storm" of remarkable creativity and productivity in the Drexciya labs. Then the news of James Stinson's sad and untimely death came out. And over the years, more information has come out, we now know for example that most if not all of the storms were solo projects by James Stinson, who knew he was dying but still had so much to say. RIP.

I do miss that about the pre-discogs days, when the internet hadn't completely taken over, local record stores were more important in terms of finding out about new music, things could be drip fed to people, you could keep a secret, create mystery and intrigue, we've since lost a lot of that mystery. Of course, it's the music itself that is the most important thing, and while Stinson has left this world, his music will live on for ever. Oh yeah, the music, this album is a masterpiece imo. Lush and melodic, really deep and contemplative, very relaxing. Let Be Me works well in a club environment at the right moment, but mostly it's for home listening. Also worth tracking down the Sunday Night Live At The Laptop Cafe 12" on Clone.

I just got this from amazon. Sound amazing! All sides sound excellent, zero surface noise. I cleaned it before I played it though, the sleeves warp uses are terrible. Lots of debris.
Comes with a download card as well.

Classic album. I remember hearing "It's Your Love" during his interview with Liz Copeland and being completely enchanted by it. If you enjoyed this there is a good chance you'll enjoy this as well:

Came across this LP by accident...saw the ownership stats and the other reviews and thought I'd give it a listen. Needless to say, I don't understand the hype.

Was the re-cut at D&M or Record Industry?

Was the whole 2LP re-cut or just the faulty side?

purchased a copy of the 2018 (?) re-cut a few weeks back - sounds great!
nice and punchy, no complaints to speak of - i suggest double checking, and checking again, the setup of your turntable if you're still having problems. what a treat to be able to finally own this record either way.
