The Police ‎– Message In A Box (The Complete Recordings)

Great mastering, but really hated that the albums were broken up onto multiple discs. Nice to have all the b sides/bonus tracks of course.

A great sounding box set. I purchased this when it came out in 1993. I brought it over to my parents house, loaded it into the CD changer and let it play. During the same period of time my sister was home from college and brought her roommate along. When I came to retrieve my CD’s I could not find the case, only the discs were still in the player. After much searching I reached out to my sister and after some investigation it was revealed that somehow “the box set case just happened to fall into her roommates suitcase”. Little thief. Well 27 years later and I still have the CDs but not the nifty folder or the 68 page booklet with the biography. Bummer.

Still the best sounding versions of the albums and the b-sides, the most musical. The 2018 Flexible Strategies remaster is no better, and dare I remind this was also a digital remaster in 1993. And no, we did not "have inferior technology in the Stone Age of the 90s", we knew how to mix stereo CDs in the 80s. Don't be brainwashed into buying remasters "cause we have modern technology to make it sound better" (except for the one-off chance when a new remaster IS better, which happens on a blue Moon). Anyway, get Message in a Box for the best sounding Police. The only track missing is the 1983 Truth Hits Everybody, but that might have been a Sting demo, so......

Is that the true color of the cover? Or is that "gold" simply a bad photograph? My copy matches this in every way, except the natural color of the set is medium blue with silver text and logo.

What makes the difference between the original and the re-issue versions ? I possess 2 items and ‘d like to know what they really are. Thanx a million

A glossy boxset with nice booklet... love the chapter "Jung at Heart"! Full discography and rare pics included. The package is replete with hits, album tracks, and rarities! From their early post punk days thru their reggae infused rock to their erudite epics, this has it all!!

Yes, it has everything... even "Don't Stand So Close to Me '86". I never liked this slowed down watery version of the awesome original. But it's here to make things feel "complete". However, if the Alien Magnet People came and erased this one track, I would not miss it!

That being said, it is well worth searching out! A nice addition to any collection.
And the name "Message in a Box" is a clever one!!!
