How does this one sound? Is it good as the first US press?

My copy is an above average pressing. Flat, centered. No pops or clicks. The background isn't dead quiet, but above today's standards.

Someone mentioned there was too much noise on Here Comes A Regular, but I absolutely do not have that problem. The noise is really only noticeable at all between tracks. I do wood glue all my albums before I rip them, so if there is any residue/dirt in the grooves I wouldn't be affected by that, so that's a possibility for others.

Can anyone recommend a version out of the 2009,2017,and 2019 pressing? Since some claim black vinyl sounds better than colored I'm torn on which pressing to purchase. Thanks.

My copy has some serious elevated surface noise (no clicks/pops, just the noise, enough to make Here Comes a Regular hard to enjoy/distracting) that haven't gone away after a wash. It's almost like the sound of a record left in a PVC sleeve that's just beginning to noticeably degrade (although the poly-lined inner it came with *definitely* isn't PVC). Anyone else having this problem?

Is this the same mix as the 2008 remasters? The ones with the sound of a door closing and footsteps after "Here Comes A Regular"?

Sound clarity much worse than 1985 press, but sounds good enough if you don’t want to drop too much money on an 80’s press

Compared the pink rhino reissue this is leaps and bounds better in terms of clarity, other one sounds okay buts it’s like there’s a blanket over the speaker

Mine is exactly the same as this except for the side B matrix etching, which reads "1-25330-B SR-2 1-1". No bottom text on label.

Perfect. No issues or anything. Sounds just as good as my original 1985 copy and the color pressing is a nice added bonus.

The Replacements somehow transitioned from their previous Twin Tone release to even greater success on a major label, all without sacrificing the distinctive indie guitar sound and confessional songwriting responsible for much of their acclaim. "Tim" remains an underground rock record of the highest order, not dissimilar to its predecessor in terms of its vocal and instrumental delivery, but most definitely less raucous and more low key its its tonality. However, unlike the previous record, "Tim" possesses a muscular, reverb-laden soundstage and in general, every aspect of the production borders on soulful, polished and controlled, which is constructive owing to the removal of vulgarity from the lyrical content at the album's core; from deeply resonant alienation anthems and heartfelt, raw rockers, each of the eleven compositions reflects the universal tribulations of downbeat misfits within society, all of them collectively wracked with angst, loneliness and disillusion. "Tim" is a conscious attempt for increased popularity, but the ragged emotion and disaffected mood on display betrays the 'Mats' glistening pop sensibilities, enabling them to collate a startling assemblage of exuberantly cynical love letters and shoegazing shuffles aimed at the maturing punk who no longer wants to joke around. The Replacements' transition from uncouth punks to deeper and introspective is beguiling to witness across the breadth of their initial recordings, and by that token they may have lost some of their edge, but this collection showcases their reckless defiant stance and steadfast refusal to abide by creative persistence; straying from the path they were on allowed the band to explore new horizons and opportunities, and when listening to the majesty of "Tim", it is hard to fault their decision.
