This is a really cool record... An eclectic blend of California stoner and punk rock DIY. It is one of those records that you need to explore several times before really "getting it", but once you do... you know the story.
Fun is a stand out feeling that I get from this band... they are all about gettin' the girl, doing drugs and carefree living in a sunny and warm climate. The vocals dreamily (and sometimes jarringly) fade in and out of the instrumentation that may go from distorted to soft. The drummer, Josh Schwartz, really holds the band together. I have really gotten to love this record after a few spins. It's not for everyone nor is it for all occasions but it certainly does make you want to smoke a little grass and drift back to your younger days for a while.
The ltd edition vinyl pressing is super cool. Beach-like brown and gold sand sunburst colored and heavy weight. It also comes with a nice yellow flexi... its a nice low-fi edition that keeps the feel of the whole thing and really ties it all together... much like Lebowski's rug. I like this.. cool album.
