It's quite easy to suffer from 'Velvet Underground & Nico ' fatigue...
How good this actual record is has become almost a side issue lost in endless debate, Is it 'the greatest recording of all time' -yes? No? maybe? ,Does it really matter?
Anyway, so to this release .Having only heard 70s & 80s vinyl versions I can't compare this to 'The Original Pressing' - & it's sound quality. So I'll start with the packaging & very nice it is to - the rear photo image that resulted in a case of unlicensed image use is now back ,the typography is good . It's great to have the gatefold sleeve with pictures & reviews .And it certainly gives the impression of 'quality'
So now to the music ...well we all know the songs don't we? ....& for myself some tracks do sound 'better' -These being 'All Tomorrow's Parties' (a bit punchier?), ''I'll be your Mirror' ,- a real depth & Nicos vocals do sound lovely .'Black Angels Death Song' (I was aware of parts previously unheard in the mix )...& even 'European Son' that now almost has a groove ( of sorts) to it ..So for me a definite improvement on my previous vinyl (& CD copies)..
A number of people have said their lp has a lot of 'pops' & other noise - I to have a number of pops & crackles that I had assumed was due to my poor handling of the lp but looking can at the disc see very little 'damage'on its surface...
There are also complaints regarding the quality of pressing. On 'Waiting for the man' ..mine gets stuck on the "..that's just some other time " line...& there's little I can do about it ,there's no 'damage on the vinyl' & as I was given this as a present when it was released I will 'have to live with it'
& Now 'BANANAGATE' ...there seems various buyers were not happy with the lack of traction on their Banana sticker...for those like myself that have a full sticky/'stuck on ' banana sticker I can state with time & patience it is possible to peel (very ,very ) slowly & see the Banana in its rather fetching 'pink & strawberry' glory...(only I can't get the 'peel' back on)

My copy has the b-side label on both sides. Anybody have this, too?

A bit disappointed with this release. I bought it to replace my old crackly original. For the most part it's a very good remastering job, clear and full.
Sadly there's a digital glitch (as mentioned by a few people) in I'm Waiting For The Man. How the hell was this missed during remastering or testing???
And my second gripe is that the peelable banana has absolutely no adhesion whatsoever, it just sits on the cover. Luckily I kept the wrapping intact which holds it in place.
Apart from that it's a very good package, just really let down with the glitch though.

I'm pissed, mine's brand new and is full of pops and clicks. After multiple cleans it still sounds shit, which sucks because I love this album! And no its not the stylus, my other records sound fine, its just this copy. What do I do?!

I grew up with Velvet Underground and this album is one of the best in Music history. It is pure art and it was very special out of that time like everybody knows. Nico made this magic even so she couldn t sing properly but her voice is so dark and beautiful.

You can listen to it from the start to the end without any loss of quality. If I have to name my favourites I must chose more than one song.

- Femme Fatale

- Venus in Furs

- All Tomorrow s Parties

- Heroin

- There She goes again

- I ll be your mirror

Is it normal that the banana peel just falls off?

Anyone else have a weird digital 'stutter' during Waiting for the Man? (Just going into 3rd chorus after the line 'you always got to wait' ) sounds like the tape slows and stutters but sounds like a digital effect.. Checked online and can't find anything about it but it's definitely there on my copy.. sounds like it's a mastering issue so I thought others might have it.

Banana is printed on a separate piece of thin plastic sheet that sticks to the sleeve but it can slip after some time...

Going through my first listen right now. Sounds very clear and the lows come booming through and it has some of the same processing issues the original did but with the extra noise removed. Awesome record and would recommend to anyone. Great job on the cover it looks killer.

Just got a copy of this. Sounds very quiet and loud enough. It comes with the original artwork too. Good job on this one!
