Having just put this release on the turntable and listened to it in it's entirety, it's The Real Vibes that I purchased this for and that definitely remains the overriding reason for getting this release. Not much wrong with the two A-side tracks, If the Style Fits... has the edge over Ladies Say "Ow!" but I feel I'll always head straight to the B-side and it's worth the effort in tracking down solely for that.

I never knew this 12" existed until recently, via Discogs! I heard "The Real Vibes" roughly 15 years ago on a nu-jazz compilation (Give 'Em Enough Dope Vol. X) and immediately fell in love with it. It's a multi-part fusion epic that takes one on a journey through what I would call a bleak 1970s New York, if I had to say what it invoked in my mind. Beautiful, and full of wisteria.

Wow! What can I say about this absolutely amazing Trip-Hop/Big Beat nugget from 1994! Before "Ooh La La", Bronx Dogs and The Black Ghosts, DJ Touche and DJ Regal were the Wiseguys, one of the biggest forces of the Big Beat era.

This was their debut EP on Black Market records (As the Wiseguys, as they released stuff under Direct Current, but not much is known about it), and it is definatley one to look out for.

The title track and "If the Style Fits . . ." are proto-Big Beat cut-and-paste meets Jazz-Funk style tracks definatley in the vein of Freddy Fresh, Mr. Scruff and Norman Cook under his Fried Funk Food alias. The Real Vibes on the other hand is a beautiful Jazz-Fusion epic (nearly 10 minutes in length!), that feels like you are on a journey.

It is quite rare, but it certanly is a real treat!
