I agree on the terrible production quality. Playing record 1 right now and it was full of factory garbage. It has a slight warp, sharp edges and it’s not even entirely round (some parts have a larger edge). There were pops on side A and obvious scuffs. Record 2 does not seem much better. It seems to be pressed by United Record Pressing, which seems to have a bad reputation. Would be good if everyone stopped using them.

[edit:] I noticed that my copy has 4 tracks on side C and 5 on side D. "Assault On Babylon" is the first track of side D. Side C has a different runout code of ESL-090LP-C-RE-1, while side D is the same as listed here (although all sides have the Ⓤ signature from United Record Pressing, not mentioned in the current runouts). Is this a new version with misprinted labels (so a different release) or is this the same for everyone and should the track listing and runouts be corrected?

Thievery Corp would never again match the stony cool of this album.

Track 1, "A Warning" sounds like it has distortion/clipping on mine. Does anyone else's have this issue?

Unfortunately, this is not a repress of the 1996 original 2xLP. It does not have the same 13 tracks. Instead, it appears to be a lazy reproduction of the 2006 CD reissue, with four bonus cuts, "Assault On Babylon" replacing "Walking Through Babylon", and the telltale dub version of "A Warning" instead of the original that was on the first LP and CD issues.

My copy is flat and centered, some pops and clicks but at an acceptable lever. Vinyl though is very thin and has very sharp edges, in some areas vinyl is not black, has some grey areas, so I presume that this is not virgin vinyl but recycled. Sound wise is ok, deep bass, quite wide sound stage and airy. Definitely would not say that this is a compressed mastering. An average pressing with good sound nevertheless. Worth the money.

As with everyone else, I cannot believe that this garbage made it through pressing. The mastering sucks and I could tell the difference in the first few notes of 'A Warning'. Sometimes it almost sounds like a subtle flanger is stuck on. If that's not enough, brand new warped vinyl. There are some pressing dimple defects but no noticeable scratches. Avoid this pressing at all costs. What a waste of money! Off to find a better one...

Mine has almost no clicks and pops. Just the 1st vinyl isn't 100% plane. But this doesn't affect the playing seriously. The mastering quality is okay. Not the best, but also not the worst I have heard. The inner sleeves I agree, there are just thin paper hulls inside. The gatefold cover is just in an average quality, as well. In total in my case, if you get this reissue for a reasonable price (<20€) it's worth.

Great music but outrageously awful press quality! No skips in my case, but pops and clicks on a mint, right-off-the-film record! Low quality inner paper sleeves, so paper scurfs all over the records!

I noticed that there's no information on where this album was pressed. Apparently for good reason as the quality is subpar across the board. From the dull and lifeless mastering to the crappy quality vinyl that contains annoying no-fill distortion, warping noise, ticks and pops throughout all sides. I tried several rounds of cleaning with my Hannl RCM but it made little difference. Likely the stampers were dirty to begin with. This is truly an embarrassment of a pressing. Hopefully it will be done again right one day. I seriously doubt anyone that has a high resolution system is going to be very happy with this dud.

My copy has a bit of a warp - at least in the first record. Also, the track listing does not match what is on record two: "Assault on Babylon" is the first song on side four ...

They are not all defective. My copy is not warped, does not skip, and has no marks on the vinyl. This was a shock to me because I bought it recently, unopened, without knowing about these potential issues.
