The place is the old farm Skalstade at the north of Gotland, an island in the Baltic Sea, solitary located in grazing land close to the forest. In that silence nature's sounds turns to music. Everything turns to music, the hollow hum of the very Earth, the original sound OM in which life and death is created. You can hear stormwinds, sheet-metal tub with water, happy birds in a forest glade, wooden gardenchair, grass being eaten by sheep, wheel-barrow, crickets (both normal and speeded down), a dead pine-stem, the circular sawblade of a firewood cutter, tubes rolling at the floor, kerosene tank, "play it yourself" music festivals, the sound of a cigarette being rolled, the song of retarded Lasse, the vast sky in which an airplane is disappearing and much more. Gratitude to all friends.
Recorded within 1978-1982 by a portable Technics 686D cassette recorder with two Nakamichi CM100 microphones. The guitar's choir and the drone of voices recorded at Silence studio in Värmland June-83. The record mixed at the place June and October-83 by Anders Lind who patiently and carefully carried the vision through by lending his ears, offering some sounds and making the very release of the record by his company possible by searching for economical means from the State's Phonogram Council.
