My copy, which I bought in Spain, has a great sound and totally silent, very very happy with this record.

Another great record ruined by substandard pressing quality due to excessive surface noise from GZ Digital.

Hoodoo is the finest, most consistent, rich, hypnotic, shuffling groove laden swamp blues album Tony Joe White has put out in 45 years. It's the album I've been holding my breath for, it's the album that should make him a household name ... but it won't, because Americans don't want this honesty, an honesty where songs are done in one take, an honesty where nothing is manufactured, an honesty that sits in your hands like fine Delta soil, dripping with fuzzed guitars, and like a lightening storm out over the Gulf, laces the air with an electricity that crackles around your ears, standing the the hair on your arms on end.
Tony Joe has been making barebones music for as long as I've been alive, but here on Hoodoo I'm actually awestruck at hearing how much sound this man can get out of so few notes. You don't stand at a distance with Tony Joe White, his music wraps itself around you, it's a singular rockin' blues style that's all his own, a blues style that oozes into other genres, one that has caused countless other to find their way to his door, hat in hand, shuffling their feet, hoping for a bit of his midnight magic to rain down on them.
Other music comes and goes, falls in and out of fashion ... but the clock stops for Tony Joe White.
