Definitely a track that splits people's opinions.

On the one hand, there's those who like their Minimal to be just that: No vocals and definitely no melody. So clearly those people will dismiss this as "cheese".

On the other hand there's people such as myself, who actually prefer their music to have melody (and hey, vocals can be cool).

Moan is a track that kinda sits in the middle. It's dark, it's moody, at first listen it has that "too cool for school" Minimal sound.

Then, halfway through, something truly spellbinding happens. A dark, foreboding, rather sinister synth lead creeps up and smacks you square in the face!

Very much in the style of early Nathan Fake / James Holden (Border Community era), this is magical music that manages to stay classy while still having enough accessibility to be enjoyable by more than just snobbish beard strokers.

IMO a beautiful haunting vocal that underpins one of the most mesmerising and best produced tunes to come out of the last decade. A genre defying beauty.

Anders Trentemøller is a composer of electronics. What that defines is someone who captures a full spectrum of sound in his productions and remixes. Moan is a well built tune more for the head then the feet. People tend to throw this in the minimal basket whereas it is more basket case trance then any other label. The meaning of that is the layers of sound which throw it into a epic journey. In this case epic is not a cheese squeezed formulated commercial sound. It's just good music.
