The Forest is one of greatest tracks for me, takes me to some other dimension.

A fantastic collection of ambient dub-techno and minimal by one of the best producers in the genre. Trentemoller's style is complex, yet fluid, making each piece a treat to listen to and inspiring many Wow moments along the way. I'm always impressed when a producer/songwriter can construct deeply affecting melodies and rhythms out of scattered parts, and Trentemoller was able to consistently impress me throughout this whole release.

I wouldn't exactly say the first disk is "DJ-mixed," but it's sequenced fluently so it creates a solid 75-minute experience ranging from gorgeous ambience at the start to full-on driving techno by the end (with an unnecessary bonus radio edit of the excellent "Moan" to cap things off).

Similarly, the remixes on the second disc range from subdued to banging techno, with stops in quirky hip hop along the way (Robyn and Sharon Philips). Those two tracks are the disc's low points, but everything showcases Trentemoller's talent for preserving the essence of the original songs while taking the production off into glitchy new realms.

I bought this album only because I’m a closet obsessive. I have his first album and taking a fancy to the bonus house disc I had to by the chronicles offering more of his house.

And I can’t really explain why! Bear with me. There is nothing wrong with his music – even if I haven’t figured out the hype surrounding The Last Resort album. But as for his club music, no doubt, this is what is making headlines these days. Every club with respect for itself is infected with minimal electro house!

And minimal to the max, infinitely controlled, and predictable as fuck, Trentemøller "rules" the underground club scene. In Denmark alone with almost no promotion his debut cd sold more than 20,000 copies. This is what the kids crave for! What does a straight guy have to do to get some layered dance music?!

Alright, as on opener, even 'til midnight, Trentemøller is NOT your worst host. But all night?! Did mid nineties psychedelic dance music fly straight over everybodys head?
