Chris McCormack has made a number of productions that I find somewhat interesting but none of his productions never really seemed to blow things out of the water. Especially his UK Gold moniker never made a great impressing on me. That is until very recently. Call me lazy or ignorant since I only recently found this true gem from his production backlog. ’Turn Around’ is soulful techno not too distant relative to the productions of Los Hermanos or name any other soulful techno artist here. Smooth and deep easy going production with lovely female vocals which are made to sound like they are sampled from 60s soul record. They aren’t, are they? Anyways, I expected his UK Gold productions always to be percussion heavy tribal-ish techno but it was pleasant surprise to find deeper material from him. For me the original album version is the one to have. Here we have a couple of remixes from Bandulu and one from Chris himself but those don’t reach the magnitude of the original. The remix by Chris is a decent one but I prefer the original take. If you agree with this argument, you might want to buy the whole ’Retuned’ album with wide array of material instead of this single. Both can be bought at a ridiculous price so obtaining this gem isn’t a monetary issue. Or then do as I did, I bought them bought.
