The sound of Ugler is the sound of the bastard child of Rush and Bergen singer/poet Jan Eggum. Add a pinch of Norways own Kaizers Orchestra and you might be approaching the musical base of the band. The five members of Ugler i mosen quickly understood that this music needed to be heard. They’ve now recorded their debut album Lyd av en fremmed (The sound of a stranger) on Mors Kjeller Records. This is the sound of something you’ve never heard before.

This unique mix of progressive pop/rock with lyrics written in the Bergen dialect deserves attention beyond the borders of Norway.

Most of the songs on the album originates with one of the band’s two guitarists, Morten Foss. His house, far from the nearest neighbour, is a constant source of frustration and awe for the rest of the band with sketches of songs that contain ever more inventive meters and turns. Morten’s ideas are further refined at the rehearsal room and the special sound of the band comes alive.
