What's the pressing quality of this one? Seems right at the limit with about 22 and a half minutes per side.

This such a great record and nice to see this reissued on vinyl. Just wish they kept the "cornfield" cover art over this new art (kinda hideous?).

In my top five electronic albums of all time. Just so...warm and evocative, airy and so descriptive of the landscapes, the time, the people. Yes, it sounds firmly like 1992. But in the loveliest way.

Almost 20 years on, Ultramarine's EVERY MAN AND WOMAN IS A STAR still manages to shine. Downtempo tinged with techno, the album still hums with a quiet beauty from the opener, "Discovery," to the flute funk of "Panther." There's a folksiness to the proceedings, like on the punctuating cascades of guitar and piano chords on "Pansy," years ahead of what would later be dubbed 'folktronica.' The warmth that infuses "Honey" oozes into the joyous "Saratoga." But they can conjure other moods as well: "British Summertime," with its thick layers of sound, evokes a hazy moor, while "Geezer" falls into a comfortable dub line. The mellow moodiness of "Nova Scotia" is buoyed by its heavy beat and a quivering clarinet, while the kick drums of "Lights In My Brain" and "Gravity" keep things bouncy. If there's a weakness on the album, it might be the vocals on "Weird Gear," but that tracks sense of funk still manages to overcome the wan lyrics. Finally, the ambiance of "Canoe Trip" gives way to the groovy "Skyclad." An all-time classic.

Sunshine on wax. Still evokes hazy summer days and positive feelings, twenty years on. Despite some sounds that are now a bit dated in retrospect (the limitations of the medium...oh, electronic music, how you subtly evolve), this album is phenomenal. Instantly evocative of specific times and places. They say time machines will never be invented, but I suggest that music like "Every Man And Woman Is A Star" is the closest we'll ever get to time travel. If you listened to this back in the early '90s, put it on right now, soak it in, and then: tell me, how do you feel? Let it wash over you.

swk24 said it all- it's like nothing else I own, either. It's feel good music but without the slightest sense of puffery, fakery or excess. Lazy acid lines blend effortlessly with cello, reverbed harmonica or vocal samples.... If I'm with a large and diverse group of friends I can drop this and almost everyone will like it. It's chill and unobstrusive yet engaging- one of my favorites.

It took a few listens to get past the quirkiness of it all, but this is fantastic, flavorful, and really heartfelt music. Something like pop meets folk meets reggae meets squibbly early 90's house, all mixed together with a touch that seems effortless. Hard to believe when you first hear it, but every track, if given a few listens, will get under your skin and stay there. Like nothing else I own.
