Unai is a very unique act. What attracted me to this 12" was the first cut, "venus reincarnated," which, appears on their CD "Rebel Swing" (which I just noticed is not listed here so I'll have to add it). However the 12" mix is a tad longer & different than the CD cut, in fact, I like the 12" version better because it sounds a little less polished. The dubby chord hits in the "Venus Reincarnated" track have a life of their own. The envelopes 'swing' and sway during each hit with amazing sophistication. Of course, I belive Unai is best known for their, for lack of a better term, funkyness or jazz-like quality to their tracks. This is some rich stuff; moody deep techno but sliced with almost a hint of a smile behind the work. Great 12", and if you can, get the CD. Unai also uses occasional lyrics, but they are very processed and are used secondary, in fact, more as another instrument than actual vocals. Class act.
