Soul Power is yet another of the UR Gospel-funk tracks that builds up a somewhat broken beat into a funk jam, with a wonderful vocal sample on top. Ma-ya-ya also appears on a full 12" release with a brilliant B-side, as well. It may just be worth owning both. Soul Power is indeed far too short, but gets the job done as good as any other of the brilliant UR releases.

After a long time with sheer disappointments coming from UR it's a personal relief for me to experience this release, The standout here is definitely "Soul Power" which I heard on the first Rolando Rocha mix-cd, and was dying to see it getting a proper release. Deep chords and syncopated electro-funk is the word here and it gets perfectly delivered! Hell, I'm even starting to like "Ma Ya Ya".

This release from UR is brilliant. But I have one problem with it. Soul Power just isn't long enough. I am going to have to buy another copy to extend the song out. Soul Power is a real turn up for the books from UR. Horn section, synths and beats, what more could you want. And when the vocal hook is added it is just the perfect last ingredience to top off another might fine UR record. Should have been released on the 12" as well.
