There is no Alpine village or hamlet too small or too remote that does not enjoy and periodically make music with a brass band. These villagers are hard-working people who look forward to their free time and relaxation. Grouped together in the village square or at the local inn, the blacksmith becomes a tuba player, the mayor, perhaps, may take up the flute, the carpenter may be a virtuoso on the horn and the farmer may release his excess energy on the drums. This recording of various combined village brass bands captures the fresh and robust local color.
