Perfect everythging with this reissue. Probably my favorite physical packaging of any album I own. A design that is matched perfectly by the dark, bleak, yet beautiful sounds of this music. In regards to the record itself, my copy sounds damn near perfect.

I could listen to "October all over" 25 times in a row and not get tired of it.

side 2 features a locked groove that the reissue does not have, bass is louder on this version than the reissue

This is an utterly sublime pressing of what is my all-time favourite record. I've had really bad luck with pressings of this in the past. I scored an OG pressing off of eBay about a decade ago, got it home, sounded great, UNTIL a big annoying skip on Side C that I couldn't fix. Agh! But I kept it for sentimental reasons. Then Numero announced the boxset reissue years later--Hurray! I bought Empire as soon as I could. Leaves sounded great up until Side C AGAIN. Terrible surface noise throughout that whole side. Then Numero announced this separate reissue. I was very skeptical until I saw the glowing ratings and reviews for it here, and so decided to bite the bullet. It's been quite a journey but now I can safely say I have a fantastic copy of this record. Damn, it's amazing. Everything from the beautiful embossed gatefold cover to the gorgeous full sound (not a skip or scratch to be heard). I even love that anti-static sleeves were included this time around. Buy without hesitation!

Better late than never: This record has entered my life by sheer coincidence. It was last Sunday morning, when inadvertently the spotify algorithm finally after years and years of useless assumptions about my taste managed to suggest something inspiring. After the solo LP of Elisa Ambrogio had run out, some stroke of digital good luck played the first songs of this. It took some ten minutes or so to sink in, but, blimey, what music: I can detect traces of Low, Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, Slint, My Bloody Valentine, Tortoise, even King Crimson. But the sum, these organic washes of sounds that bleed into specific forms and disintegrate again, is so much more than the parts. What I love about this is that although the music may be highly artificial and constructed, it comes across as genuine experiences of a collective of young musicians succeeding in creating something utterly sublime. Sometime in the mid-1990s – at a time when the Jesus Lizard and Come were among my favourite bands – I must have heard music by Unwound leading me to discard this band. So, a quarter of century later, a chance encounter with this, apparently their swan song, made me realize that it will henceforth have "Point of Departure", "Fire of Love", "Exile on Main Street", "Closer", "Blues for Allah", "Atlanta Twelve String", "Hejira" and "Are You Experienced" as close neighbours.

such an incredible release and nice pressing. the packaging and sound are fantastic, although i have some crackles here and there on the four sides, even after a few cleanings. maybe I was out of luck, nevertheless I'm happy with owning this masterpiece.

Oh my goodness, this may be one of the best reissues I’ve seen of an album. THICC cardboard, anti-static sleeves, no noise, sounds wonderful. Excellent.

Excellent band and pressing, clear as a bell, plus the embossed sleeve design seen with your own eyes, a beautiful thing..
