Supraphon Release Information

Atlantida ’99, in the pipeline from 1977 and released a full decade later, can still stand its ground, even at the beginning of the 2007 season!

The song Hvězdné nebe nad Atlantidou (The Starry Sky above Atlantis) from the almost cult Planetárium album may have been the springboard, yet there was still a long path to the compilation of the thirteen songs, whose lyrics to Jan Neckář’s music were written by Zdeněk Rytíř and Michal Horáček. Václav Neckář, although primarily a performer of a host of hit singles, proved again to be also a dramatic narrator of more extensive, composed stories, this time about continents sunk in the sea – and about us, too.

Chiming perfectly with the remarkable recording is the sleeve, bearing an original picture by the Oscar-winning artist Theodor Pištěk. Not incidentally, but following extremely attentive listening to the music, he chose one of his paintings to supplement the visual aspect of the album, which ranks among the very best that has been made in this genre in our country.

Václav Neckář yet again successfully transcends the borders of pop music!
