On the evening of December 18, 2010, 120 lucky Van Der Graaf Generator fans braved a blizzard to travel to West London's Metropolis Studios to take in a rare UK apearance by Peter Hamill, Hugh Banton and Guy Evans.
Among the most revered of the progressive rock groups to evolve in England during the late 60s and early 70s, VDGG performed songs from all stages of their career in an intimate atmosphere that was captured in a manner unlikely ever to be achieved again.
The DVD also includes revealing interviews with all three band members.

Recorded and filmed on 18.12.2010 at special event at Metropolis Studios, West London. Comes in digipak with 6-page booklet.
This release is a reissue of the DVD-only release originally issued in 2011.
DVD data: Region - 0, Audio - LPCM / DTS 5.1 surround, Ratio - 16:9.

The concert itself was a great and unique event. The recording captured the band in good form and positive mood mulltiplied by warm atmosphere of the audience in the studio. Apart from playing tunes from their classic repertiore the band presented three numbers from their yet to be released 'A Grounding By Numbers' album.

I was hesitating a bit before buying the set because I owned initial DVD-only version of the release. I was not sure what this new 2CD+DVD set could add to the existing release (considering that I can play the DVD at my home hi-fi system the same way as any audio-only release). But finally I bought it, mostly just to complete my PH/VdGG collection.

And how pleasantly I was surprised when I took this new version in hand! Beautifully made four-panel fold-out digipak proves that the people, who created the set, were moved by love to the music, but not only by intention to get some money from fans. High quality paper and printing are not the only things which add value to this new release. Mastering for CDs has been done with big care to the material so the CDs sound really better than 16/48 LPCM stream on the original DVD.

And finally, in spite of fact that collecting and watching video recordings is not my cup of tea, I must confirm that picture quality of the DVD from this set is higher than the original DVD has.

So this 2CD+DVD set is a-must-have release for any PH/VdGG fan and a great addition to a collection of any serious music lover.
