Some say he created this beast as he was contractually obliged to produce one more LP for RCA, but those who do generally do not appreciate the insanity that lies within.

After the inspiring Heaven & Hell, Albedo 0.39 and Spiral, fans were left in anticipation for what beauty Vangelis would conjure up next.

Instead, he delivered a piece which could only be described as chaotic.

While there are only two "parts" listed, there is far more than that present here. Indeed, hardly anything stays constant for more than 30 seconds (and if it does, you are left hanging in uneasy suspense).

Quite hilarious to hear of people pigeonholing Vangelis as "Easy Listening Electronica" or even "New Age" when you're exposed to this.

Make no mistake, this is NOT easy on the ears or mind. It's probably one of the only LPs I own that I will never listen to any which way but sober. My god, it would take some serious guts to sit down and listen to this on illegal substances.

I can't even describe it, other than what I said already:

This is a very interesting album if maybe a bit strange & bizarre to some Vangelis fans... "Beaubourg" is one of those albums where you either like it or you don't... it's been a topic talked about with many Vangelis fans... It's an album in my opinion that more or less showed Vangelis in a sort of freestyle mode... creating different sounds & effects while showing his ability at doing what he does so well... Yes fans you either like it or you don't but make no mistake it is nothing like his other albums but that's not necessarily a bad thing here... It's not a bad album! : )
