The album-calendar Mioritza - the eighth in the series inaugurated by the same publishers in 1984* - is dedicated to a fundamental work of Romanian spirituality: the pastoral ballad of the same name, published in Vasile Alecsandri's version.
The ballad is ilustrated with reproductions from the woodcuts made by painter Nicolae Brana(1905-1986), which alike include the text and the images as the artist has figured the five decades back. They are reproduced from the volume appeared in 1957 and placed at the publisher's disposal by art critic Marina Preutu, owner of a copy inscribed to her by the author.
The attenant record was made by Electrecord and its presentation is due to musicologist Viorel Cosma.
The english version of the texts is by Sergiu Marcus.
We owe the printing of this album-calendar to the Publirom & Repro Art Trading Companies.
The editorial department of the Advertising Agency Chimprest Ltd - director general Mariana Constantinescu-Bălă - and the editorial staff, consisting of Valeria Fornea, Oana Marinescu, Mihai Sfera, Ioan Stoenescu, Sofia Filip, Alexandru Ionescu (graphics), and Iuliu Ruță, co-ordinator of this edition, wish to give thanks to all those who have contributed to the appearance of this album-calendar, and hope that their efforts will be appreciated by the recepients.
