Key Point of thinking about Ambient, Techno-Rave culture in mid 90's. Without net, mobiles...there was one Worldwide connection to Music. It was MTV. I saw 3lux videos a lot of times in Party Zone. When i was 17-18 it was so magic and unbelieveble. Right now...after Ages it's one of my favourites compilations of 90's techno. I'm Proud i know this stuff since day one.

RE 3LUX2: I am a self proclaimed trance nutter. I own thousands of trance CDs and 12"s. If I was to make a top 10 list of mixes that I still hold near and dear to my heart, this one is on the list for sure. Not perfectly mixed. Track selection even has some duds, but there is something about it that brings me back to the rave days of the early 1990s and some of the wild and bizarre experiences I had then. Feels like it was yesterday. At the risk of sounding as old as I am..... They don't make them like they used to.....

I my opinion 3Lux mixes and visual are way better than the Dr Devious stuff. They were full of bad "trancey music" (really dated) and most of the time only used fractal computer graphics (very unoriginal). On the contrary 3Lux is made of real classic tracks (apart from some of them which sounds like pre goa trance) and constructive visual.

In fact the first is more techno oriented, the second more "housey" and the last has it share of IDM/Ambiant.

Most of the 3LUX tracks got a spin or two on the MTV Party Zone in two or three track snippets back in those days, and finally seeing the entire mix is actually quite enjoying. As I recorded what I could back on old TDK music cassettes I would never have dreamed that I would one day actually own this music. I was a bit disappointed to discover that the contemporary "Cyberdream" by a "Dr. Devious" wasn't part of the 3LUX experience, as it was very similar in style and quality. Still, this is an absolutely fascinating release that has "cult" and "milestone" written all over it.
